Fortnite returns to the Melbourne Esports Open

Last year, the first Melbourne Esports Open (MEO) was held. Now the Open is back from the last weekend of August. As we’ve already heard, the Rainbow Six Masters will feature at the event this year. For the second year running, Fortnite will return. Fortnite will have its own dedicated stage where fans will have the chance to play alongside some of their favorite content creators. Free-Play Field is making a return at the JB Hi-Fi Zone. Attendees will have the chance to play games throughout the weekend. This will build upon the success of the Fortnite Summer Smash earlier this year in Melbourne.

We all know Fortnite is famous for its dance routines. Now you can join in the fun. Following the success of last year’s competition, the Fortnite dance comp is back too. Each day of the open, people of all ages can join in the dance competition and show off their best Fortnite moves. There are plenty of prizes up for grabs for the best performances.

Melbourne Esports Open features pro esports

After the success of last year’s open, which saw 12,000 fans descend on Melbourne Park, MEO is upping the game in 2019. The event will expand to include activations at Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne Arena, and Grand Slam Oval. Along with Fortnite, ticket holders will once again have the chance to experience some pro League of Legends and Overwatch. Last year, the OPL Finals owed fans as the DireWolves claimed victory. MEO is pleased to announce the OPL Finals will feature at Melbourne Esports Open until 2022. If League of Legends isn’t your style, then maybe Overwatch is. The Overwatch Contenders Season 2 Australia Finals will be played live on stage. Will ORDER repeat their first season victory? Or will the Dropbears come to claim the title?

Pick up MEO tickets to watch all pro action, jump on the Fortnite dance stage, and more. Tickets are available at the MEO website. If you can’t get to Melbourne for the weekend, follow the official MEO Twitch channel for the live content.
