Fortnite streamer TSM Daequan reveals 2020 plans

Popular Fortnite streamer for North American esports organization Team SoloMid (TSM) Daequan “Daequan” Loco has published an announcement reflecting on his recent pauses in content creation and future plans. Daequan reflects on 2019

“Yes, I benefit a lot from the long break in my personal life, but I’m a grinder, I’m a hustler. I’m using every single day that I didn’t stream & post, all the self disappointment, all the hate that I had built up in myself for not being there for you guys and the stream and all that, and turning it all into MOTIVATION,” wrote Daequan in a Twitlonger post. “I will be in 100% full swing of things January 2020, and that year is gonna be MY YEAR. I’m nipping everything in the bud before the year flips over and then I’m locking myself into a [little] bubble and focusing on myself, you guys, and the content.”

Daequan describes that many members of his extended family passed away in the recent year, with his grandparents and aunts included. Two of his friends also were lost to gun violence, which contributed to his mental health. In addition, he dealt with things including physical health problems like chronic back pain and lung collapses, along with matters surrounding his girlfriend and editor Exie. Daequan states that he has learned so much from these hardships. However, he is disappointed in himself for all of the time he missed creating content, which contributed to the decline in viewer count.

Decline in viewers for TSM streamer

The streamer started 2019 with around 15,000 average viewers and 80-100 hours streamed per month, between January and April. There was a slight decline in May, with no live streams during the months of June and July. It seemed to have picked back up for Daequan in August with 22,000 average viewers, but September only saw him streaming 8 hours total. He then averaged 11.7 thousand viewers in October and 9.3 thousand viewers in November.

Daequan currently boasts 5.22 million subscribers on YouTube, 3.7 million followers on Twitch, 5.6 million followers on Instagram, and 1.7 million followers on Twitter. With less than one month remaining until 2020, Daequan ended his statement by thanking his fans for “being so patient” in the past year.
