Fortnite v10.10 content update brings Junk Rift, new POI

The Fortnite v10.10 content update is live in-game and available for download on all systems. As with every content update, no major bugs/glitches will be fixed and no nerfs or buffs will be applied to anything. While this means we’ll have to wait and see about a B.R.U.T.E. nerf, Epic Games did give us an item to help fight against the Mech in v10.10. Although it’s not a direct counter, the new Junk Rift throwable is as close as we’re going to get.

The Junk Rift crushes anything and everything in its path, making it one of the most useful items in the game. Along with this, the Rift Beacon has been activated again and left behind glitched consumables in a giant crater. Let’s hop right into the patch notes and see what changed in the v10.10 content update.

The Junk Rift serves as an effective B.R.U.T.E. counter

As mentioned above, the Junk Rift is a counter to the B.R.U.T.E., though not directly. Essentially, the Junk Rift is a counter to everything in the game. Dropping in stacks of 2, this spin on the Rift-To-Go can be thrown at any spot on the map. Once thrown, a junk item will fall from the sky, crushing anything beneath it.

This junk item damages players, vehicles, and structures. It also releases a shockwave that knocks players back while inflicting damage. Here are the official stats from the v10.10 patch notes:

  • Damage:
    • Direct hit: 200
      • Direct hits slightly knock players back.
    • Shockwave hit: 100
    • Both hits immediately destroy vehicles and destructible objects on impact.
  • Drops in stacks of 2.
  • Max stack size: 4
  • Epic Rarity.
  • Available from Floor Loot, Chests, Supply Drops, and Llamas.

As you can see from the stats and video, the Junk Rift is extremely powerful. Used correctly, this item can singlehandedly win you multiple games. Time will tell if the community reacts positively or negatively to this addition. So far, the reaction is mixed among players.

Glitched Consumables inhabit the old soccer stadium

A new Rift Beacon has yet again altered a Fortnite POI, as the soccer stadium is no more. Instead, a large crater now sits in its spot north of Tilted Town. Within this crater are consumables from the game’s past that switch while on the ground.

Glitched Consumables

  • Glitched Consumables are at the explosion site. These randomly switch between different forageable items from the past.
    • Apples
      • Grant 5 Health.
    • Mushrooms
      • Grant 5 Shield.
    • Coconuts
      • Grant 5 Effective Health (sum of a player’s Health + Shield).
    • Peppers
      • Increases player movement speed for a short duration.
    • Hop Rocks
      • Decreases player gravity for a short duration.

Shadow Stones were also on this list, but Epic disabled them due to a bug. Out of the three Rift Beacon transformations, this one seems to be the least controversial. Added health to the game is never a bad thing, so this addition should go over relatively smoothly.
