At long last, Epic Games has released a new update for Fortnite. No one is quite sure why Season 2 has seen such a steep drop in content and updates, but we finally get one just in time for the holiday season. While there are no official patch notes, of course, we have received a flurry of leaks from data-miners. In these leaks, we can see the new Winterfest event challenges and all of the new skins coming to the Item Shop. Let’s take a look at all of the holiday-themed content coming to Fortnite in the next couple of weeks.

The new Winterfest challenges

Like most other multiplayer titles, Fortnite is celebrating the holiday season with an in-game event. Named ‘Winterfest’, this event will presumably run until the end of December. We don’t exactly know all of the content coming with it, but we do know the event has its own challenges.

There are 14 Winterfest challenges in total, with each rewarding a different cosmetic item. While some challenges can be completed fairly easily, others will require special attention. Thanks to Fortnite data-miner @FortTory, we can see the entire Winterfest challenge list.

Although some challenges seem familiar, others don’t make much sense as of yet. Once players start to explore the new map, the Winterfest challenges will be understood more. Down below, you can see the updated Fortnite Season 2 map to correspond with Winterfest.

Holiday skins arrive in Fortnite

As usual, Fortnite is also bringing some holiday skins to the Item Shop. In the past, we’ve seen some classic Christmas-inspired skins but this year, Fortnite is stepping away from the traditional aspect of holiday skins. In total, leakers have found eight leaked skins coming to Fortnite for Winterfest. Once again, credit goes to @FortTory on Twitter for data-mining the images.

While there are some standard Christmas skins, a lot of the characters seem a little less joyous than we’ve seen in the past. Perhaps this signals a change in the tide for Fortnite Season 2.
