April begins what is going to be a very exciting time for Fortnite. Epic Games just announced that this year’s Fortnite World Cup prize pool will be a crazy $100 million. That is simply unheard of and gives players even more of an incentive to get involved. From April 13 through June 16, there will be ten weekly online qualifiers. $1 million dollars will be up for grabs each week for those players who qualify.

What’s up for grabs

The top 100 solo players and the top 50 duo teams worldwide will head to NYC for the actual finals held from July 26-28. At that event, there will be a $300,000 prize pool. We are talking some serious cash here. Now every single one of those players is guaranteed at least $50K, while the Fortnite World Cup Solo Champion will take home a cool $3 million. For players who aren’t really into battle royale, Epic says not to worry.

They plan to host extra events during the Fortnite World Cup finals that they promise will include “fun custom challenges in different modes and formats.” Fortnite also plans to give away $1 million a week for the rest of the year in different tournaments until they reach the $100 million milestone.

All these tournaments will include an interesting mix of modes and formats. Epic Games also plans to open it up so more countries around the world can get in on the fun. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and just who those lucky players will be. Fortnite seems to be going all out with this World Cup that promises to have something for everyone. Those interested in participating can keep an eye on Fortnite‘s social media channels and of course the official website.
