Fusion University has announced that main tank player Chang-sik “ChangSik” Moon will be parting ways with the esports organization. The 22-year-old has stated that his departure from the Philadelphia Fusion academy team is due to his contract ending.

ChangSik leaves Fusion University
“From now on, [my] contract with Fusion University (T1) has ended. It was a great time for me with the team, so I can improve myself,” wrote ChangSik in a Twitter post. “Teammates, coaches, and staff: Thank you all guys, I hope you guys have a great year and thanks for fans for cheering me and the team. I will be back with a better situation. Happy new year.”
The South Korean player had previously posted a ‘looking for team’ post on Twitter in early December as well. Nevertheless, it wasn’t a surprise because Fusion University only has one remaining member on the roster.
The player in question is Lee “Na1st” Ho-sung, who has his Twitter bio set as “T1 Na1st.” While not announced, this might be possibly referring to his transition to the affiliated T1 Overwatch Contenders team.
Overwatch Contenders performance
ChangSik joined Fusion University in November of 2018, alongside Simon “snillo” Ekström. Most of the previous roster has left for Overwatch League teams. This includes Kyung-bo “Alarm” Kim to the Philadelphia Fusion, Seung-jun “WhoRU” Lee to the New York Excelsior, Adam “Beasthalo” Denton to the Toronto Defiant, along with Kim “Fuze” Tae-hoon and Se Won “BERNAR” Shin to the London Spitfire.
Fusion University saw immense success in the North American Overwatch Contenders scene with multiple 1st place finishes. The team swept the competition in both the 2018 and 2019 seasons. This could be seen with its 4 – 0 victories in final matches against the likes of Team Envy and XL2 Academy.
Eventually, the team left for the Korea scene – a region well known for its higher skill requirement. While Fusion University successfully qualified into Korea’s Overwatch Contenders through Season 2 of Trials, it couldn’t find the same success overseas. The team later finished in 5 – 6th during Season 2 of Overwatch Contenders Korea after a 0 – 3 loss to powerhouse RunAway.
T1 will compete in the newly implemented seeding tournament later this month.
