GameStop Proving Grounds: Free $5k PUBG tournament

GameStop Proving Grounds format

The tournament will be hosted online through the Matcherino website and will hold up to 1024 duo teams. Players cannot sign up as solos — they must register with a teammate. Players are required to play the Proving Grounds tournament in first person as well. Furthermore, the games are hosted on the NA server, with 32 teams (64 players) per lobby.

The map rotation will include a cycle between Erangel (the original map) and Miramar (the desert map). Round 1 and 3 take the fighting to Erangel, while round 2 and 4 will bring players to Miramar. Placing in the top 5 for a round will net a duo between 20 and 11 points. Kills in the Proving Grounds tournament will earn them 2 points each.

On the clock!

Registration ends today (July 19) at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time, so get your partner and register quickly. GameStop Proving Grounds tournament will begin on July 20 at 12:00 p.m. PT. There are no roster changes or registrations after the deadline, so potential teams are on the clock.

The information page only lists 51 participants at the time of writing, so it seems to have a lot of spots left. However, this may not reflect the entire pool of registrants, so do not rely on this number. Be quick!

Anything else I should know?

Additionally, you have to be at least 18 years old to participate in GameStop Proving Grounds. If you are 13 years old, however, you can play with parental permission. The prize pool for the tournament right now is $5017.00, and that amount can go up. There are certain “quests” you can complete to increase the prize pool. These quests involve things such as following GameStop on Twitter and retweeting the tournament announcement.

Make sure to register for the tournament if you’re interested! Good luck to all the participants!
