General Kudro of Drannith is a powerful human lord in Ikoria spoilers

In the plane of Ikoria, it can be hard to be a human. On a plane called Ikoria, it’s easy to feel a little small. Thankfully, the humans of Ikoria have a little help from General Kudro of Drannith and his General’s Enforcer, next up in Magic: The Gathering Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths spoilers.

General Kudro of Drannith

Look at him. He’s like Wilford Brimley in a Monster Hunter cosplay.

General Kudro of Drannith is a powerful human lord right out the gate. Giving all your humans +1/+1 across the board is a great start to building a board state. Unlike other creatures with lord effects, General Kudro is legendary so having multiple copies out won’t work. Thankfully, he comes with a few other abilities to fight with.

General Kudro’s static ability to exile cards from your opponent’s graveyard whenever a human enters the battlefield is pretty good. It can easily disrupt a graveyard-based strategy just by casting more human creatures. The real power comes in his activated ability. Sacrificing two humans to destroy a creature with power 4 or more will be extremely powerful in Ikoria’s meta.

So long as there is a reliable way to generate human creatures, players will be able to take down any large creatures on the battlefield. With cards like Castle Ardenvale and Hero of Precinct One to reliably make human tokens, General Kudro will have plenty of resources to take down anything he wants.

While it might be a little early to say General Kudro of Drannith will find a place in Standard, he certainly synergizes well in a Mardu Knights list or potentially an Abzan Humans deck. Anything that goes wide and can reliably keep human creatures on board will benefit from General Kudro.

Backing Kudro up is his trusty General’s Enforcer. He’s a little underwhelming compared to the General but provides amazing support.

Not only does General’s Enforcer make all legendary humans indestructible, but he is a pretty reliable way to make human tokens. For just 4 mana General’s Enforcer can keep tossing humans at the General to take down the biggest monsters Ikoria can throw at them.

Toss General’s Enforcer in a deck with Judith, the Scourge Diva or any other legendary human creatures and you have a powerful combination.
