Glorious Tryndamere in new Wild Rift regions? Riot Games responds

The highly-anticipated mobile port for League of Legends finally arrived in North America and Latin America on Sunday, March 28, when Wild Rift became available to download on iOS and Android devices.

Players in the Americas got their first taste of what is a strikingly similar experience to the real thing as they landed on a dynamic version of the Rift that now rotates based on which side you’ve queued in on. Amidst all of the excitement, though, was a consistent tone of FOMO-driven disappointment surrounding one specific feature of the game: ranked rewards. Particularly, the Glorious Tryndamere skin.

Similar to the end-of-season ranked prizes handed out in the traditional League of Legends game, Wild Rift will reward players for their accomplishments in the ranked queue. Just as scoring a Gold rank or higher on the PC platform has always rewarded players with a “Victorious” skin, securing Gold or higher in Wild Rift will come with a snazzy new “Glorious” skin line.

The problem for players in NA and Latin America was that the game didn’t release in these regions until after the first Wild Rift ranked season had already concluded. Many naturally assumed this meant that there’d be no way to unlock Glorious Tryndamere, the first skin in the game’s prestigious and exclusive new ranked rewards line.

Glorious Tryndamere in NA? Riot responds

When reached for comment, Riot Games left the door wide open for the skin to appear in the game’s newest regions.

“Our goal is to make sure no one misses out on previous content,” a Wild Rift spokesperson said in a statement when asked if North American players would get their own shot at unlocking Glorious Tryndamere.

While the response wasn’t exactly definitive and the spokesperson couldn’t provide further details at the time, the implication seems to be that regions that just received Wild Rift would not be excluded in unlocking the very first ranked reward skin.

There also seems to be a larger indication here that players in the new regions may eventually experience events they never originally got access to. Could this mean we’ll see a return of other time-limited unlockables like those released with the K/DA and Lunar Beast events?

We’ll have to wait and see.
