Golden Guardians bot laner Ian Victor “FBI” Huang is the first Australian to play in the LCS who still has Oceania residency. Before joining the Golden Guardians Academy team, he played for Oceanic team Bombers, ORDER, and Sin Gaming. While with the Bombers, the lineup ended up placing first at 2018’s League of Origin along with 2019’s OPL Split 1 and Playoffs. However, they did not qualify for the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational during Play Ins.

Similarly, Head Coach Nick “Inero” Smith for Golden Guardians Academy coached for Oceanic team Tainted Minds and also served as an analyst for ORDER. Golden Guardians placed 5th during the 2019 LCS Spring Split, where they then lost to FlyQuest in Playoffs. The roster then went on to place 7th during the 2019 LCS Summer Split. The GGS Academy team also achieved a 2nd place finish in the North American Academy Summer Split.
