Griffin is off to a flying start after taking down Kingzone DragonX in a 2-0 sweep. It is clear that Kingzone DragonX still has some kinks to work out in their system for the Spring Split.

Griffin is looking to build on their amazing Summer Split, which saw them take the LCK by storm. The young talented core bulldozed their way through the first two weeks, going undefeated in weeks one and two. They ended up finishing with a 13-5 record, tying for first with three other teams. In the end, Griffin fought hard but would lose to KT Rolster in a tight 2-3 defeat. Their lack of experience in the LCK Playoffs proved to be their downfall. Even though they would end up cooling down towards the end of the year, Griffin showed the world that they were a team to be feared.
Tarzan Takes Over
Griffin’s 18-year-old jungler, Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong, was the star of the show today. His smart jungling and impressive mechanics were on display against Kingzone DragonX today, and he would be rewarded with two game MVP’s. He led his team in kills in both games and was an integral part of their victory today. The rest of their young, fiery core did well too. For example, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon played great, ending the two games with thirteen kills and fourteen assists. Also, ADC Park “Viper” Do-hyeon did well, finishing with nine kills and eleven assists.
Meanwhile, Kingzone DragonX could not find any ground against the 2018 Summer Split runner-ups. There wasn’t much help for Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu, who has been one of the best ADC’s in the world. Granted, this lineup is a massive step down from KT Rolster, so we shouldn’t expect anything too outlandish from this team. Also, Heo “PawN” Won-seok struggled to get anything going, leading his team with eleven deaths in two games. It was a tough game all around for Kingzone DragonX.
Looking Ahead
This Saturday, Griffin looks like finish Week One with an easy two wins under their belt. They have Jin Air Green Wings up next, who just lost to SK Telecom T1. We should expect another explosive display from the young sophomore squad of Griffin. This game should be another 2-0 sweep for them, as Jin Air Green Wings are still a team trying to find their identity. The only reason why they might lose is by underestimating their opponents. However, I do not see this group making that type of mistake.
On the other hand, Kingzone DragonX will be facing off against one of the newest teams in the LCK, Sandbox Gaming. Sandbox Gaming acquired the LCK spot and roster of Team BattleComics, who was the best Korean Challenger team of 2018. Unfortunately, the first competition they would attend would be uneventful. The 2018 KeSPA Cup was a tournament between some of the best Korean teams. Sandbox would bounce out of the competition early, losing to Gen.G in the qualifying round. If there was a game that Kingzone DragonX could rebound with, it would be this one.
