Gunfight will be returning to Modern Warfare soon thanks to Ninja

In an update last week, standard Gunfight was removed from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. In its place is Gunfight OSP, a looting version of the mode where you can scavenge for weapons and equipment. While both modes are solid, regular Gunfight is by far preferred by the community over OSP. However, Infinity Ward still made the decision to swap one for the other instead of having both in rotation. Fans of the standard version were quite upset about this change, including streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. Ninja made a fairly big fuss on Twitter about the matter, and within hours, Infinity Ward responded, saying Gunfight is returning soon.

Ninja helps Gunfight return to Modern Warfare

To say Infinity Ward’s communication with the community has been lackluster would be an understatement. Rarely does the community know of the future plans Infinity Ward has for Modern Warfare. The developing studio seemingly takes action at will with no regard for the fans’ reaction. This lack of communication however took a U-turn last night when the biggest gamer on the planet, Ninja, made it clear he wants Gunfight back in Modern Warfare.

Tweets like the one you see above come in every minute of every day regarding Modern Warfare. However, these tweets are usually ignored. Although, when Ninja had his say on the matter, Infinity Ward multiplayer designer David Mickner made sure to respond.

The community is not too pleased with this situation. Most are complaining about the fact that when Ninja says something, the developers immediately respond, which is unfamiliar behavior.

Although, one could argue that since Ninja is followed by a large portion of the community, more people would see Mickner’s response. If the developer responded to a low-profile account, not many people would even know about it.

In any case, Infinity Ward should make an effort to not only respond to the big streamers. Furthermore, the studio needs to be more up front with its plans for Modern Warfare. Mickner says in the tweet above that Gunfight was already coming back, but no one in the community knew of these intentions.
