Five cards you will want to try in Hearthstone: The Boomsday Project

The Boomsday Project will soon be available for everyone to play, but before tomorrow’s launch, I wanted to share the new cards I found most interesting from this latest Hearthstone expansion. This article will help give you some ideas about what you might want to try out tomorrow. Whether you want to bring back an old archetype or test something completely new, this set offers it all.

First up is Flobbidinous Floop, otherwise known as the combo druid player’s dream. Floop copies the effect of the minion played previously so you can play Malygos on one turn. This option for a 4-mana Malygos is incredible for the deck in Standard format. Besides the obvious strength of this card, I think it has more use than people realize. The stats aren’t bad on their own. I believe the card will be good enough to see play in a more midrange-oriented deck like Token druid; specifically, Arcane Tyrant would be the main candidate for this approach. A third copy is most likely just good enough to include.

I haven’t seen many people talk about Test Subject yet but the potential of this card is limitless! Besides the obvious synergy with a card like Power Word: Shield, this card has so many more uses people haven’t considered yet. Cards like Divine Favor and Inner Fire have long been very powerful for Priest. Test Subject allows you to gain back some of the combo pieces you may have used earlier to trade and keep the board in check. Certainly a personal favorite of mine.

Myra’s Unstable Element is the wild card here. Pro player opinions about this one are all over the place. This card is either going to build an incredibly powerful deck purely built around this card, or it won’t see any play at all. There is quite a lot of support for this kind of archetype with cards such as Academic Espionage and Lab Recruiter. Another card that works great with Myra’s Unstable Element is the Fal’dorei Strider. This card would allow you to pull all copies of the spiders out right away, creating a powerful swing turn. On top of that it would also refill your hand completely to finish out the game soon after!

Electra Stormsurge is another personal favorite of mine. This card is obviously just going to be good if you include it in a deck such as Shudderwock Shaman.

My idea behind the card is a bit different, though. A long time ago, Malygos Shaman was a commonly-played deck, and I think this card could help Malygos return into the Wild metagame. With its low mana cost, you can use this card together with all types of combos with Emperor Thaurissan. It could work with both Malygos or Alexstrasza. I’m very excited to see how that idea works out.

The Solarium is just awesome. I love the design behind it. I love what it does. It can fit into a variety of Warlock decks from Zoo (minions) to the more control archetypes of Warlock. This is exactly the kind of design I would love to see more of in Hearthstone. I think Zoo will take over the Hearthstone ladder for the next few days after the Boomsday Project goes live, though it might fall off after that once people start to figure out other decks a little more.

Those are my picks, but let us know your favorite cards from Hearthstone‘s Boomsday Project expansion in the comments! Thanks for reading and have a great expansion day.
