As the Year of the Dragon comes to an end, Hearthstone is prepping to celebrate the Lunar New Year with an event-themed Tavern Brawl and a series of special quests. The event will begin next Wednesday, Jan. 29. When Hearthstone players enter the Lunar Blessings Tavern Brawl, they will select a class to play and be dealt a random deck. Players can then choose from three buffs that will give them an in-game advantage.
The three buffs will come from a list of 12 in total, each serving as a tribute to the Lunar New Year zodiac animals. For example, one of the buffs is the Blessing of the Rat, which gives Reborn to summoned minions that cost three or less. Meanwhile, Blessing of the Ox will give a summoned minion +3 Health.
For a more aggressive playstyle, Blessing of the Tiger gives summoned minions +1 Attack. In the case of Blessing of the Rabbit, whenever the player summons a minion that cost three mana or less, that minion gains Rush. Of course, there are other cards that Hearthstone players can encounter. These feature a dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig, as seen below.
As for the series of special quests, they will reward players with dust and gold after completion. There will be eight of these quests during the event. The Lunar Blessings Tavern Brawl is scheduled to end on Feb. 12.
While players wait for the event to start, they can also check if there are any local Fireside Gatherings to attend. Between Jan. 21 until Feb. 9, players can receive special Galakrond’s Awakening loot at participating gatherings. At these Fireside Gatherings, Hearthstone players will race to see which team – either team League of Explorers or team League of E.V.I.L. – completes each chapter of the Galakrond’s Awakening campaign the fastest.
If players prefer to play through the campaign on their own, then they can also get their hands on the full adventure. The adventure contains eight chapters, 35 cards to collect, and two unique card backs.
