Hearthstone Grandmasters 2021: Week 1 Day 1 regional recap

The 2021 Hearthstone Grandmasters Season 1 live broadcasts kicked off on April 9. Throughout the day, players from three different regions duked it out against each other for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Viewers who watched the action on YouTube had the opportunity to earn Hearthstone card packs as well. 

Week 1 Day 1 Asia-Pacific Hearthstone Grandmasters recap

The Asia-Pacific region started the day off strong with wins earned by Wei-Chieh “Shaxy” Liu, Wesley “lambyseries” Seek, Ching-Li “TIZS” Li and Yo Hsin “GivePLZ” Pa. 

Shaxy had a close match against Poramet “Bankyugi” Putchakan. He was able to earn a score of 3-2 by the end of five games. The game that determined Shaxy’s position in the first week’s quarterfinals involved his Token Druid against his opponent’s Secret Libram Paladin deck.

Meanwhile, lambyseries achieved 3-0 after playing against Tyler “Tyler” Hoang Nguyen. The decks played by the victor included Secret Rogue, Secret Libram Paladin and Token Druid.

As for TIZS and his games against Wai Chung “blitzchung” Ng, the quarterfinals spot went to TIZS, with a score of 3-1. The games between GivePLZ and Cheon Su “che0nsu” Kim also resulted in the same score. GivePLZ then obtained the final spot for Asia-Pacific’s top eight players.

On April 10, these victors will face off against the four other players who earned a spot in the quarterfinals prior to the live broadcast

Week 1 Day 1 Hearthstone Grandmasters Europe recap

Europe’s Hearthstone Grandmasters games were just as intense throughout the day.  The players who came out on top included Enzo “Warma” Floch, Simone “Leta” Liguori, Kevin “Casie” Eberlein and Jaromír “Jarla” Vyskočil. 

Warma secured his win and his spot for Saturday after dueling in four games against Dima “Rdu” Radu. Meanwhile, Leta achieved the same score of 3-1 when he fought Zakarya “xBlyzes” Hail. As for Casie, he went up against Joffrey “Swidz” Cunat. In the final game between them, Casie won with his Token Druid deck and had a score of 3-2.

Jarla won all three games against Elias “Bozzzton” Sibelius. The decks Jarla used against his opponent consisted of Control Warlock, Secret Libram Paladin and Control Priest. With Jarla’s 3-0 score, he will fight in the quarterfinals.

Week 1 Day 1 Hearthstone Grandmasters Americas recap

The final region that played on Friday was the Americas. Eddie “Eddie” Lui and Luke “NoHandsGamer” Kooken claimed victories against their opponents Brian “Briarthorn” Schneider and Frank “Fr0zen” Zhang respectively. While Eddie earned a score of 3-1, NoHandsGamer secured a 3-2. 

In the next set of games, Jerome “Monsanto” Faucher clashed against Martin “Tincho” Mazza. Even though Tincho tied the score in the fourth round, it was not enough. Using his Spell Mage deck, Monsanto obtained a score of 3-2 against his opponent.

The final games for this region came down to Mihai “lnguagehackr” Dragalin versus David “killinallday” Acosta. lnguagehackr achieved lethal with a Fireball to his opponent’s face. As a result of his 3-1 score, he also secured his spot in the quarterfinals.

The first week of the 2021 Hearthstone Grandmasters Season 1 tournaments will continue throughout April 10 and 11.
