Hearthstone reveals Deadmines Mini-Set trailer, Mercenaries updates

Patch 21.6 is scheduled to launch on Nov. 2

Hearthstone revealed its Deadmines Mini-Set trailer, Mercenaries updates and more in its 21.6 patch notes on Thursday. The patch is scheduled to launch on Nov. 2 alongside a pirate theme.

Deadmines Mini-Set

The Deadmines Mini-Set features 35 new cards, pirates and new tradeable synergies. All of the cards will be revealed over time, and Hearthstone will reveal the full list of cards on Nov. 1.

The Deadmines Mini-Set contains 66 cards:

  • 4 Legendary cards (x1)
  • 1 Epic card (x2)
  • 14 Rare cards (x2)
  • 16 Common cards (x2)

Players can get these cards by purchasing the entire set for either 2,000 gold or $14.99. They can also get the cards through United in Stormwind packs.

Hearthstone Mercenaries updates

Meanwhile, Hearthstone Mercenaries will get its first content update. It will feature new abilities, pirate synergies, new bounties and bounty bosses.

New characters will include Edwin, Defias Kingpin, Eudora, Sneed, Mr. Smite and Cookie, the Cook.

Below are the card types and rarities:

  • Edwin, Defias Kingpin (Legendary Fighter)
  • Eudora (Epic Fighter)
  • Sneed (Epic Protector)
  • Mr. Smite (Rare Protector)
  • Cookie, the Cook (Rare Caster)

As for the abilities, equipment, Hearthstone released a document detailing each one.

In terms of new bounties within Hearthstone Mercenaries, players will get to meet Highlord Omokk, General Drakkisath and Rend Blackhand. Referencing World of Warcraft lore, these new bounties will be included in the Blackrock Zone.

The new cards, coins and portraits will be available through Mercenary packs and the usual methods of obtaining drops, such as completing bounties and the Fighting Pit.

“All future Mercenaries will continue to be added to that same general pool,” according to Blizzard. “Each new Mercenary will come with its own Task Chain, similar to those of the existing Mercenaries.”

Hearthstone Battlegrounds updates

Hearthstone Battlegrounds will receive new heroes, which will include Diablo for a limited time, Sneed and Cookie the Cook.

Sneed and Cookie the Cook can be accessed by players who have Battlegrounds Perks earlier than their formal Nov. 16 release date.

Hearthstone Duels updates

Alongside patch 21.6, the Duels ratings will be reset for all players. The pool of cards will also be updated to include ones from the Deadmines Mini-Set.

Diablo will make an appearance in Duels as well, becoming its first-ever dual-class character. His effects and card pool will represent the Warrior and Warlock classes.

There will also be one active treasure update alongside multiple passive treasure ones. The active treasure, Black Soulstone, will be available to every hero except for Diablo.

As for the original Scholomance heroes, their unlock requirements will be removed.

Arena mode updates

On Nov. 2, players who play Arena will get to choose from a pool of the following card sets:

  • Deadmines Mini-Set
  • United in Stormwind
  • Ashes of Outland
  • Rise of Shadows
  • Knights of the Frozen Throne
  • Journey to Un’Goro
  • Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
  • Core

To celebrate Hallow’s End, players will also get to duke it out against others in the annual dual-class Arena event. This event lets players select one class and choose another class’ hero power. The card pool will be a combination of both classes.

Book of Mercenaries and more

The Book of Mercenaries for Cariel Roame will launch on Nov. 9. It will involve battling eight bosses, and players who claim victory will receive a Paladin card pack.

Additionally, players interested in battle-ready decks can purchase one for the Rogue, Druid, Hunter or Paladin class. Deck recipes will be limited to one per account and be available for $14.99 on Nov. 2.
