Format

The WSOE event had a unique format we have not seen before in the Hearthstone scene. All competitors had to bring a deck for each of the nine classes in Hearthstone. The format is quite complicated.

  • Ban two classes
  • Pick one class
  • Ban two classes
  • Pick one class
  • Ban one class
  • Pick two classes (The remaining two)

With these four classes chosen, you and your opponent will be given one more ban knowing what decks your opponent has, followed by a best-of-5 series using the Last Hero Standing format. An example of this is the series between winner Jia and Slysssa.

The winner of the event was Jia Aquino “Jia” Dee, who beat Cora “SongBird” Georgiou in the finals. The series was incredibly close and really was a pleasure to watch. With many upsets and an eventual 3-2 score, this is one worth watching back. Find the VOD of this series and others on WSOE’s Twitch channel.
