Hearthstone’s new Galakrond’s Awakening adventure completes Year of the Dragon saga

Hearthstone’s new Galakrond’s Awakening solo adventure is arriving on Jan. 21. The first chapter of the adventure, Battle of the Frozen Coast, will be free.

The end of the Year of the Dragon

In the Year of the Dragon that began in 2019, Hearthstone players journeyed with the leagues through the Rise of Shadows and Saviors of Uldum expansions and their respective solo adventures. Now with the arrival of Galakrond’s Awakening, players will get to complete the year-long conflict between the League of E.V.I.L. and the League of Explorers.

“The Year of the Dragon has been a dynamic and exciting one for Hearthstone, with a series of meta-shifting expansions, an ambitious year-long story, and a rapid cadence of new features and updates that have fundamentally evolved the game,” J. Allen Brack, the president of Blizzard Entertainment, said. “Galakrond’s Awakening will bring the story we’ve been telling in the game all year to an epic and fitting conclusion, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

This adventure’s plot line features Arch-Villain Rafaam, who captured Reno Jackson. During their conversation together, the villain revealed that  he plans to use the Plague of Undeath and resurrect the dragon Galakrond.

Time to choose sides

Galakrond’s Awakening will feature two different campaigns, representing the The League of E.V.I.L. and The League of Explorers, played across four chapters. Each chapter includes three unique battles per campaign, featuring a character from the prior year’s adventure and a random deck.

As Hearthstone players complete the different chapters in Galakrond’s Awakening, they will unlock a total of 35 cards that can then be used in Wild and Standard. These cards will get added to their collection. Players will also get the new Book of E.V.I.L. and Book of Explorers card backs after they beat the respective chapters in Heroic. 

The Galakrond’s Awakening adventure can be pre-purchased now for $19.99 USD. If players get it before Jan. 21, then they will be granted a Golden Classic card pack. After the adventure’s launch, players will still be able to buy Galakrond’s Awakening for the same price, however, not get the Golden Classic card pack bonus. Individual chapters can also be purchased in-game for either $6.99 USD or 700 gold each. 

Chapter two of Galakrond’s Awakening is scheduled to unlock on Jan. 28. Meanwhile, the third chapter will unlock on Feb. 4 and chapter four will be playable on Feb. 11.
