The new-look Heroic has taken down Natus Vincere in the first match of the GG.Bet ICE Challenge. The ICE Challenge is a four-team tournament playing out in London with $50,000 on the line. It is apart of ICE 2019, which is a business-to-business gaming event happening at the ExCeL London Convention Center. Na’Vi will look to bounce back in the lower bracket of the competition.

This will be Heroic’s first tournament of the year, and the first under their new logo and branding. The team would announce and reveal their brand-new look to the world today. Instead of their green and white colorway, they are now sporting a bold red and black colorway. The logo has changed to an H with wings, as compared to the helmeted logo they had before. The jerseys and colorway are very similar to FaZe Clan’s jerseys in terms of aesthetic and colors.

Meanwhile, this will also be Na’Vi’s first tournament of 2019 after having a relatively successful past year. The team is looking to rebound after their last tournament, where they lost in the grand finals of BLAST Pro Series Lisbon to Astralis. The team has stuck with the same roster as last year, as compared to he multitude of teams that have made changes. Hopefully, consistency is key for this championship-winning squad.

Heroic mounts comeback against Na’Vi

Their first map, Overpass, would begin with a great start from Heroic. They would manage to take a four-map lead on the CIS juggernauts, looking poised to take the first map with ease. However, it would be Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev who would keep his team in the game. Hailed as the best CSGO player of 2018, s1mple would push his team to win seven of the last nine rounds in the half. In the second half, it would be all Na’Vi, as they would go on to take all but one round to take the map, 16-8.

Unfortunately, s1mple’s efforts would be in vain, as the second and third maps would fall to the wayside. Heroic would dominate the first half of Nuke by only dropping four of the fifteen rounds. In the second half, Heroic would close the map out easily by not dropping a round. Heroic mounted a relatively balanced game throughout, with Patrick “es3tag” Hansen leading the way for his team with 25 frags.

Inferno Nailbiter

The last map of the day, Inferno, would be incredibly close. Heroic would jump out to an impressive lead after only dropping two rounds in fifteen. It seemed like the Danes were going to make short work of Na’Vi, but suddenly the other side would mount an epic comeback. Again led by s1mple, Natus Vincere would storm back into the game and win an unprecedented eleven rounds in a row. However, much to the dismay for Na’Vi fans, Heroic would close out the last three rounds of the series. It is an unfortunate end for Na’Vi, but their tournament doesn’t end there. They must now face off against AVANGAR in the lower bracket to stay alive in the tournament.
