For several months, Epic Games has been butting heads with both Apple and Google over mobile game developer fees. While the feud is still developing, players have not been able to play Fortnite on mobile devices. Thanks to a detailed guide provided by Epic Games, players can download Fortnite without needing the Google Play store. Here are the steps players have to take to get back to playing Fortnite on the go.
How to download Fortnite on Android
The first step is players have to go to the official Fortnite website on your mobile browsers and click on the yellow “Download” button.
Next, players have to click on the black “Get it on the Epic Games App” button further down the screen.
The download for the Epic Games App should start up right away. If it doesn’t, click the “Download” button on the bottom right corner of the screen to start the download.
The browser may ask for the user to change security settings to download the Epic Games App. Go ahead and allow it and then install the application. Then, open the app.
You may have to let your device allow downloads from what your phone considers an unknown app. Click the button to let it install. There will likely be an additional update required before running the app.
Once the app opens there are two games available: Fortnite and Battle Breakers. Click on the Fortnite banner to begin the download. Users will be asked to give Fortnite access to both their contacts and microphone, so choose the settings that work best.
Players will be prompted to choose to either sign into an Epic Account or to create a new one. Now that you have signed in, the app will ask to finish downloading Fortnite. Go ahead and start the download, though a wi-fi connection is recommended.
Now that everything is downloaded click “Play” and get ready to drop. There is no word on how to play Fortnite on iOS devices, or if it is even possible given the standing of the two companies.
