How to find a Glintstone sorcery staff in Elden Ring

One of the best magical weapons in Elden Ring

Elden Ring has a few options when it comes to building classes based around weapon types. There are the standard sword and shield builds, where players can also two-hand weapons, ranged options and the magical weapons. Magic in Elden Ring is split up into two categories: sorcery and incantations. Incantations use different spells and weapons than sorcerers would use. Sorcery, instead, uses staffs to cast spells at range that can deal a ton of damage. However, if you didn’t start as the Astrologer, you won’t have a staff to start Elden Ring. The only way to find one is to head north and locate a Glintstone staff.

Glintstone is the main magical resource in Elden Ring. It’s used in almost every spell in the game and has several staffs built with it. The first staff you will likely encounter out in the world is called the “Carian Glintblade Staff.” For players wanting to utilize sorcery and spells, this is the best option. Unfortunately, it can’t be found until you venture far north.

In order to find your first sorcery staff of Elden Ring, you will need to head to Liurnia of the Lakes. This is the region north of Limgrave and Stormveil Castle. If you want to go inside Stormveil Castle, you’ll need to battle both Margit and Godrick, the first two main bosses of the game. However, if you want to blow past them and go straight to the north, you can skip the bosses using a secret shortcut.

Once you’re in Liurnia, you’ll need to keep trekking north, following the main road the entire way. Make sure you’re going to the right side of Liurnia and not to the left. Near the end of the main road, on the right side, you will run into a fort with magical enemies. You will need to defeat all of them and then make your way up the tower that watches over the area. The exact location of the camp on the map is viewable below.

On top of this tower, there will be one more enemy for you to defeat. Loot the treasure chest atop the tower and, inside, you will find the Carian Glintblade Staff. This staff requires 14 Intelligence to use, so you’ll need to put some points into that attribute if you want to use sorcery.
