How to play Spellbreak, the newest addition to the battle royale genre

If you’re in the market for a new battle royale game, you’re in luck. Spellbreak is a new free-to-play Battle Royale game but with a twist: instead of using guns for combat, you get to use magic. Here’s where you can find the game and what it’s all about.

What is Spellbreak?

Spellbreak is a battle royale similar to games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, or Call of Duty: Warzone. You and 41 other players drop into a giant map and the last player (or team) standing wins.

Before each match, you get to choose from one of six different gauntlets. The gauntlets offer different types of magic, different abilities, and different passive traits. You also get to choose from three different talents that offer different benefits, such as mobility and casting speed.

Gearing up

Once the game starts, you can choose a place to fall from the sky and then you can control which direction you fall. Once you land, you will need to begin looting to get gear and supplies. Instead of guns, you can find different gauntlets to equip on your offhand. For defense and utility, you can equip boots to increase speed, a belt for armor, and a pendant for mana.

There are also several different runes you can equip that do different things. For example, a teleportation rune will allow you to teleport a short distance on a low cooldown. All gauntlets, gear, and runes have a different rarity. The rarer the item is, the better it is.

Lastly, you will want to try to find health potions and armor packs. These will help you get healthy after fighting. Keep in mind that you can only use armor packs if you have a belt.

Combat

The main appeal of Spellbreak is magic-based combat. Depending on what gauntlets you have (the one you start with and the one you find) you will have different spells. Some spells interact with others as well (i.e., combining a wind tornado with fire makes a fire tornado). This makes choosing which gauntlets to take important.

Like in shooter battle royale games, you will need good aim to hit your spells. Missing spells will cost you mana while dealing no damage. You will also need to learn your abilities, what they combo with, and how to hit them. You will also want to keep track of your rune’s cooldown and use it as well. The best way to get better at fighting is to get out there and do it.
