Riot Games has announced the start of a closed beta for the mobile version of its auto battler title, Teamfight Tactics. Fans of the game in several countries will be able to take part in a testing period. The closed beta will last for several weeks until the game’s official launch in March.

Teamfight Tactics Mobile closed beta

Riot Games has enabled users on Android devices to pre-register in the Google Play Store. Those on Apple devices can sign up for updates as well. No information has been disclosed on exactly which countries will be taking part in the closed beta, but Riot Games will contact the lucky fans directly if they have been chosen.

Initially announced as part of League of Legends’ 10-Year Anniversary event, the mobile version of Teamfight Tactics features almost all the same functions as the PC version. These include aspects like the shared inventories, progression pass, and ranked system as a cross-platform game. Social features like lobbies, friends, and invites will also be ported over.

New look, same gameplay

Teamfight Tactics Mobile Closed Beta

Riot Games has stated that Teamfight Tactics on mobile will look and feel the same as well. The UI will be slightly different, but this is due to the change in the device. Other functions like controls also differ, with players dragging to preview, equip, and combine items. The in-game Champion Shop isn’t always open because of the lack of space on screens and will be instead toggled with a button. While in-game chat is disabled on mobile, players will still be able to dance, taunt, and emote through a special menu designed for touchscreens.

The game will launch without a store, but Riot Games has stated that a store will come in an update after launch. Players shouldn’t worry because they will be able to use their Little Legends, arena skins, and other content from their PC accounts on mobile. However, this is inclusive to everywhere except for China and Southeast Asia because of a different publisher in those regions.
