In a recent announcement by Edward Gaming (EDG), it was revealed that Hu “iBoy” Xian-Zhao will be leaving the organization to join Vici Gaming (VG). iBoy has been a part of EDG since March of 2016. Starting out as a trainee, he later moved his way up to become a core part of the team.
iBoy’s time at EDG
iBoy’s national record is immensely impressive, as he is only 19 years old. His legacy started with winning the LPL 2017 Spring and Summer regular seasons, as well as the playoffs for LPL 2017 summer. Besides this, iBoy carried his team to become the regional champion at the China Regional Finals 2018. His 2019 season was less than he hoped for, though, which is likely the reason for his decision to leave the organization.
EDG added in their announcement that they attempted to keep him around but, in the end, respected his decision to leave. His time at EDG made him one of the strongest marksman players in China, and his career is only just getting started.
What is next for Vici Gaming
Shortly after the announcement of iBoy leaving Edward Gaming, the announcement was made that he will join VG for the 2020 season. At this time, VG has not yet announced who will serve as the support. It was revealed earlier today that the bot lane duo for Vici Gaming left the team to join Invictus Gaming (IG). As such, one current rumor is that Wang “Baolan” Liu-Yi, the spare support player of IG, could become part of the VG team.
Alternatively, support Fu “Hang” Ming-Hang could move up from the Vici Gaming Potential (Development League) roster. While Hang still lacks experience on the big stage, his performances in the LDL have been notably improving.
