Immortals release Altec, Gate, sOAZ, Eika, and GoToOne from LCS roster

Immortals finished the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Summer Split with a dead last placement. In preparation for the new season, the North American esports organization has made the decision to release four players from its starting roster. In addition to the departure of Johnny “Altec” Ru, Austin “Gate” Yu, Paul “sOAZ” Boyer, and Jeremy “Eika” Valdenaire, Immortals will be parting ways with coach Adrien “GoToOne” Picard.

Immortals prepare for 2021 LCS Season

Immortals’ history in the League of Legends scene dates back to 2016. However, the organization only made its recent entrance into the LCS after acquiring Infinite Esports & Entertainment, and thus also the franchise spot that belonged to OpTic Gaming. The team had a headliner in former Team Liquid jungler Jake Kevin “Xmithie” Puchero. Xmithie had previously led the team to the 2017 World Championships.

The team entered the 2020 LCS Spring Split with many skeptics. Following unpredictable performance during matches, Immortals finished in eighth after a loss to Dignitas in the tiebreaker round. Despite this, there weren’t many roster changes during the offseason other than jungler Nicholas “Potluck” Pollock and Gate joining from the Academy lineup. The lackluster results continued into the Summer Split, with a string of losses during the first two weeks.

Bouncing back from dead last?

Immortals are left with a mix of players that include top laner Kieran “Allorim” Logue, mid-laner David “Insanity” Challe, bot-laner Apollo “Apollo” Price, support Nickolas “Hakuho” Surgent, and junglers Potluck and Xmithie. There are still several months before the 2021 season starts. It’s possible there will be even more of an overhaul soon.

Who do you think Immortals will pick up for their lineup? Can you see Xmithie leaving for another LCS team? Let us know about your opinion, and keep up with Daily Esports for all of your League of Legends coverage.
