Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5 is finally here and the community is eager to hop in. Yesterday, Activision posted the roadmap for the new season, which includes arrival times for certain content in either game. This was a huge spark for fans, as there’s more content on the way than ever before. However, the Season 5 update arrived early this morning as did the patch notes, and they didn’t excite many players. While there are some significant changes, one big aspect is missing from the update: weapon tuning for both Modern Warfare and Warzone.

No weapon tuning in initial Season 5 update

If you wish to read the full patch notes list, you can do so on Infinity Ward’s website. Of course, if you’re looking for a nerf or buff to any weapon, you’ll be disappointed. Infinity Ward has chosen to not include any weapon tuning in this initial update. There was no reasoning behind this decision, but the developers did acknowledge its absence.

Presumably, when Infinity Ward says “in a future patch,” it likely means that the second-half update will contain weapon tuning. This is when the next batch of content, like a new Operator and classified weapon, will arrive. This isn’t confirmed, of course, but it seems like the likeliest timeframe.

Many in the community were hoping for a big meta change in Warzone specifically. Weapons like the Bruen-MK9 light machine gun and FAL assault rifle are dominating the game and have been for some time. The hope was that Season 5 could introduce some new guns into the meta and eliminate the need to equip the Bruen or FAL.

However, that hope will have to be put on hold for the time being. Infinity Ward stated it will provide updates on the weapon tuning patch, so stay tuned to Daily Esports for those announcements.
