Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, for the most part, looks like a solid game. We still have the beta to make our decisions, but as of right now it seems promising. However, there is one thing many would like to see Infinity Ward change: the exclusion of the mini-map.
It came as a bit of a shock to see no mini-map in the top left corner at the multiplayer premiere. The mini-map has been a constant in Call of Duty since the first games in the series. Though, it might be that very reason that Infinity Ward wants a change.
The overwhelming concern and negative outcry in the community has now sparked some at Infinity Ward to comment on the issue.
Infinity Ward responds to mini-map issue
It was a matter of time before someone at Infinity Ward took notice of the fan complaints. However, it is important to note that the developer studio won’t change anything major in Modern Warfare until the open beta has come and gone.
This is evident in an Infinity Ward developer’s response to a fan asking about the mini-map. Joel Emslie is an Art Director for Infinity Ward and was answering questions on Twitter when a fan asked about the mini-map exclusion.

His response is how most people thought Infinity Ward would go about doing things. There’s no point to change an in-game feature without having the community play with it firsthand.
While most feel they would still like a mini-map, maybe nearly a week of beta gameplay will change some minds. However, it seems like Infinity Ward is open to including a constant mini-map if a majority of players feel they would still like it in-game after the beta concludes.
