J Storm finalizes roster for The International 2019

With Dota 2‘s The International 2019 (TI9) coming up on Aug. 20, many teams have made roster changes in preparation. J Storm announced this week that they have finalized their five-man roster for the esports tournament’s qualifiers. Former teammates Jonathan “bryle” De Guia and captain Park “March” Tae-won were moved to inactive in late May. Now, the North American esports organization has officially released both players. Sivatheeban “1437” Sivanathapillai will take March’s old place with Clinton “Fear” Loomis moving to the team captain position.

“We have officially released MarchDota and bryledota from our Dota 2 roster. [We] would like to thank them for all of their hard work over this past year,” wrote the J Storm Twitter. “We wish them both good luck in all their future endeavors!”

New joining player 1437 previously competed for the Southeast Asian team known as Tigers. While on the team, they went on to place 1st in DreamLeague’s Season 10. However, the former TNC Tiger roster quickly fell apart afterward. The timing can be described as strange as most of his teammates left the team a lot earlier than he did. 1437 has competed under teams like Cloud9 and coached for Team Secret in the past as well. His addition will help J Storm in their path to TI9.

Team J Storm is owned by Jeremy Lin, an American professional basketball player for the Toronto Rappers of the NBA. While J Storm competes in other games, their Dota 2 team is what they are most known for. Coach Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho has moved back to his official role for the team. This is because he formerly subbed in for 1437 before he joined. Their current roster consists of Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok, Leon “Nine” Kirilin, David “Moo” Hull, Fear, and 1437.

Team J Storm will compete at the North American closed qualifiers between July 11 and 14. There are a total of six spots for The International 2019, an esports tournament with a staggering prize pool. What TI9 team are you rooting for?
