Jensen officially leaves Team Liquid

After three years with the org, Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen has officially departed from Team Liquid before the 2022 League Championship Series season. Team Liquid signed former TSM legendary mid and rival to Jensen, Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg earlier this off-season.

Jensen has not yet found a team for the 2022 season. With most of the LCS rosters already being finalized, it is unlikely that he has a starting position in the spring of 2022. Along with him are many other historically strong mid laners, like Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer and Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro.

Jensen played most of his career on Cloud9, taking over the role from Hai “Hai” Lam in 2015, where he played for three and a half years. He was never able to take home a trophy with the team, placing second in all three of his finals appearances with them.

Before the 2019 season, he joined Team Liquid, where he helped the team win two back-to-back LCS finals in his first year, taking them to the Mid Season Invitational Finals as well that May.

Unfortunately for him and the team, the last four splits have left them without a single finals victory, taking second in both the spring and summer of 2021. He also went to Worlds three times with TL, ending with a 3-3 record each year, each time failing to get out of the group stage.

In their recent “Assembly,” Team Liquid co-founder and CEO Steve Arhancet spoke highly of the player, praising his work ethic, especially at Worlds, where he called the Danish mid “laser-focused,” claiming he played the most solo queue of everyone on the team.

This isn’t the last we’ve seen of the player, however. Jensen isn’t retiring. “Once we get close to the start of the season,” he said, “[I want to] make it a priority to get back into the LCS on a roster where I can make things happen and achieve what I want.”

“I still have so much more to prove, so much more I want to achieve.”
