Takuto “Kameme” Ono won Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Singles at The Kid, the Goat, and the Mang0 on June 9. He also won The Mang0 Kickoff, a smaller tournament held on June 7. This is Kameme’s third Smash Ultimate tournament victory in a row. Kameme has not missed Grand Finals at a significant event since Frostbite 2019 in February, where he placed 25th.

Kameme’s journey to top 8 came with victories over Jacob “SweetT” Trammell and Charlie “Charliedaking” Antoun. In top 8, he defeated Yuta “Abadango” Kawamura, Ishiguro “Raito” Tetsuya, and Matt “Elegant” Fitzpatrick. Throughout the entire event, no one was able to take Kameme to game five.

The Kid, the Goat, and the Mang0 marked the beginning of Kameme’s brief stint in the United States with the help of 2GGaming. 2GG similarly helped Raito, Abadango, and Tsubasa “Tsu” Takuma attend this event. These four players will also attend Just Roll With It! 11 and 2GG: Grand Tour – South Carolina this weekend.

Runner-up of The Mang0 Smash Ultimate

Elegant had an impressive run to 2nd place at The Kid, the Goat, and The Mang0. He beat Kevin “KiraFlax” Reeves, James “Eon” Perez, and Tsu to make it into top 8. Though he lost to Raito in Winners Semis, his strong run continued in the losers bracket. Elegant defeated Nicko Bonilla and Tsu, and he beat Raito in their Losers Finals rematch.

Elegant was considered the best Luigi main in the world by far in Smash 4. One of his most notable runs came at GameTyrant Expo 2017, where he placed 2nd. However, he has yet to match this success in Smash Ultimate. Elegant has not yet made it to top 32 at a major Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament. In fact, he placed a disappointing 193rd at GENESIS 6, the first Ultimate supermajor.

Despite his slow start in this game, Elegant’s performance in The Kid, the Goat, and the Mang0 Smash Ultimate suggests he may be able to return to his previous heights. As it stands, Elegant is still the frontrunner for the title of best Luigi player in the world. However, he faces some competition from Japanese Luigi mains. Among these are Navy, who placed 5th at Sumaboto SP 4, and Lunamodo, who placed 4th at KVOxTSB 2019.
