KT Rolster signs Kuro, Ray, SoHwan, bonO, Malrang

South Korean esports organization KT Rolster has signed five brand new players for their League of Legends roster for the 2020 season. These include mid laner Lee “Kuro” Seo-haeng, top laners Jeon “Ray” Ji-won and Kim “SoHwan” Jun-yeong, and junglers Kim “bonO” Gi-beom and Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong. This group joins existing AD carry Kim “Aiming” Ha-ram and support Park “TusiN” Jong-ik.

Hopefully, the addition of former Rox Tigers and Bilibili Gaming player Kuro in the mid lane can help the team succeed. New top laner Ray will also help with his previous experience on both EDward Gaming and North American organization Cloud9 in past seasons. KT Rolster had a successful 2018 season, with the team placing 1st during the 2018 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Summer Split and Summer Playoffs. This led to a 5 – 8th place finish at the 2018 World Championships, following a loss to Invictus Gaming.

But after such success, players in the mid lane, AD carry, and support roles departed from the team. This spelled a different fate for the roster, with a second to last finish in the 2019 LCK Spring Split. After eliminating the Jin Air Green Wings and escaping relegation, the team didn’t fare much better during the 2019 LCK Summer Split. The organization’s 6 wins and 12 losses narrowly beat 9th-seeded team Hanwha Life Esports. With this, the entire KT Rolster roster was released, along with members of the coaching staff as well.

However, some of the new players – bonO and Malrang – most recently played for Jin Air Green Wings. That team has been relegated from the LCK to the Challengers Korea league after a poor performance. While KT Rolster doesn’t have much to lose, the team will need some work to compete with the refreshed rosters of the Korean scene.
