LCS Summer 2020 Day 1, Friday, June 13

Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves

This game saw Evil Geniuses take victory in the first match of the 2020 Summer Split. EG midlaner Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro shined on his Corki with an 8-1 score, ably assisted by Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam’s Yuumi on 1-1-15.

Cloud9 vs. FlyQuest

Spring Split champions C9 kicked off their campaign with a methodical win over FlyQuest. With FLY’s jungler Lucas “Santorin” Larsen looking out of sorts on Lee Sin, C9 kicked into gear in the mid-game Dragon fights and never really eased up from there.

Day 2, Saturday, June 14

Evil Geniuses vs. Counter Logic Gaming

Evil Geniuses won this game to secure the perfect start to their LCS Summer 2020 campaign. EG simply outclassed their opponents, posting a flawless game with zero deaths to sweep aside CLG’s Nexus at 24 minutes.

Team Solo Mid vs. Team Liquid

These are two of the biggest names in North American League of Legends, but this time around Liquid comfortably picked up the win. In fact, this grudge match had even more weight this year – because legendary bot lane carry Peter “Doublelift” Peng was making his debut for TSM, after moving from TL at the end of last split.

However, it was not a good day for the TSM botlane. Doublelift on Kallista and support Vincent “Biofrost” Wang on Taric only managed one kill and two assists between them. Compare that with Liquid’s marksman Edward “Tactical” Ra putting on a 7-0 clinic on Aphelios. So you can see why Team Liquid came out on top.

Immortals vs. FlyQuest

FlyQuest took the victory over Immortals in a scrappy match. Jungler Santorin made up for his previous shaky performance on Lee Sin, with several clutch ultimates on Kindred. That helped FLY closed out at 32 minutes, after a close early game that saw extended messy teamfights around the mid lane.

Golden Guardians vs. Dignitas

GG’s Tanner “Damonte” Damonte was the standout performer as Golden Guardians fought to victory over Dignitas in a 30-minute game. The former DIG academy player went 6-2 in the jungle. On top of that, he consistently flashed up his old team’s logo as Guardians took down the Dignitas Nexus. GG indeed.

Day 3, Sunday, June 15

Cloud9 vs. 100 Thieves

Cloud9’s second game ended in a smooth victory over 100 Thieves.  The game continued Cloud9’s display of coordination in abusing the enemy jungler, leaving 100 Thieves’ William “Meteos” Hartman with a 0-5-2 score on top of a second loss for his team.

DIG vs. TSM

A 25-minute victory for Team Solo Mid, this game was a low-kill match all about map control and pressure. TSM’s long-time midlaner Bjergsen put on a good 4-0 display on Corki, rounding off a good week for fans of the flying ace champion.

Team Liquid vs. GG

In the week’s longest game at just under 40 minutes, Team Liquid came out victors over GG. A series of three close mid-game team fights swung it in Liquid’s favor. Tactical brought out another 5-1 performance on Aphelios, but it was midlaner Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen that stole the show with some clutch ultimates on control mage Orianna.

CLG vs. Immortals

After being stomped by Evil Geniuses in game 1, CLG rallied to achieve victory against Immortals. Immortals were ahead 7 kills to 1 after 10 minutes. However, CLG botlane carry Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes had other ideas. He finished up 7-0 on Miss Fortune as they turned it around to win the game in 35 minutes.
