League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) team Golden Guardians has partnered up with Adamas Esports to improve in terms of performance and esports mental health.
Both the Golden Guardians LCS team and its Academy roster will receive consulting services in sports psychology, mental performance and coaching development. The team’s coaching staff will also receive these benefits.
Currently, the players of the Golden Guardians LCS roster include Aiden “Niles” Tidwell, Ethan “Iconic” Wilkinson, Nicholas Antonio “Ablazeolive” Abbott, Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes, and Leandro “Newbie” Marcos.
This roster was first announced back in November, 2020 in preparation for the LCS 2021 Spring Split. So far, the Golden Guardians have duked it out against teams like Cloud9, 100 Thieves, Team Liquid, Dignitas, Immortals and Evil Geniuses.
Their next match will begin on March 12, where they will face FlyQuest, Counter Logic Gaming and TSM.
Partnering with Adamas Esports
The partnership announcement arrived after several months of work between the Golden Guardians team and Adamas Esports. According to general manager of the League of Legends team Danan Flander, the sources provided to evolve mental performance efforts have been invaluable so far.
Over on Twitter, Flander emphasized the dedication to helping both players and coaches despite the global pandemic.
“The health of our talent is a top priority and we’re proud to be leaders in the esports mental health and performance conversation,” he also said in an official press release.
Caleb Cousens, the CEO of the training and performance company, shared this excitement. By recognizing that an “esports athlete is a cognitive athlete,” the Golden Guardians can receive tools that will help them succeed in the present and future.
Aside from League of Legends, the Golden Guardians organization itself has esports players for World of Warcraft and Super Smash Bros. Melee. It remains to be seen if these players will receive similar benefits.
