The list of weapons that could arrive in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is quite astounding. The game files feature a plethora of different weapons and code names, all of which could see the light of day. However, one of the more prominent guns on the list is Modern Warfare 2‘s famed Intervention sniper rifle. As one of the franchise’s most recognizable weapons, the Intervention is certainly a fan-favorite. Many have requested for it to be the next DLC weapon.

Well, while we don’t have confirmation of this happening, leaks suggest Season Five is when we could finally see the sniper.

Time for an Intervention

The Intervention being in the game files isn’t new information. In fact, we’ve seen evidence of the sniper there for a couple of months. However, the theory that it will arrive in Modern Warfare sooner rather than later recently became stronger thanks to another addition to the files.

Up and coming Call of Duty data-miner @BKTOOR_ was the first to make this discovery. In his mining, he found that a new sniper has been added to the game files. This weapon is code-named the “sn-romeo700,” but BKTOOR has taken to calling it the Remington Model 700.

If you’re wondering what this has to do with the Intervention, let us explain. Since the Intervention has been in the game files for such a long time, it’s likely that Infinity Ward is gearing up for its release and preparing a new sniper, the Remington 700, in the files. Leaking account @ModernWarzone explains the thought process behind this.

So, while we don’t know anything for sure, the current mindset is that the Intervention will arrive in Modern Warfare Season Five. After that, perhaps in Season Six, the Remington Model 700 will come along since it was just added to the files this week. Of course, Infinity Ward could change its mind at any time, so we’ll have to wait for more leaks.
