After three weeks of competition in the League of Legends European Championship, Rogue Esports are still undefeated. Fnatic and G2 Esports are both sitting at a record of 5-2. But what would a ranking of players instead of teams look like? This is a difficult question to answer but let’s see what the statistics have to say about it after three weeks of competition.
Rankings for this article were made with Oracle’s Elixir data. An algorithm was coded in order to rank each LEC player in several statistics depending on their role, and the average of each of those rankings was taken to find a player’s final rank. Depending on the role, each stat was valued differently. For example, supports weren’t rated at all on their CS or Damage per Minute but their vision score was more valued.
Top lane

Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu is still the king of top lane after three weeks of competition,. He averages a 6.9 kills/deaths/assists as well as a plus-6.9 creep score difference at 10 minutes. However, Barney “Alphari” Morris is still first in that department with a plus-15.1 creep score difference at 10 minutes. In terms of damage per minute, Odoamne places second behind Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik, who has an average of 582.
Part of the reason that Broken Blade may now make the top three over Martin “Wunder” Nordahl Hansen is due to G2 Esports’ win over Fnatic, where the Turkish top laner achieved a lead over Fnatic’s top laner. The sample size only being seven games so far, one game between both, may affect the ranking still.
Jungle

This jungler ranking may seem odd, as none of the junglers of the top three teams in the LEC made it. While this might mean that top teams win more through their laners, it’s also possible that statistics slightly favor junglers that play more for themselves. However, this can’t be the entire justification. Vision Score and Kill Participation are both valued for junglers. In addition, junglers that would spend too much time farming get punished in the Damage per Minute department.
Javier “Elyoya” Prades Batalla is at the top of almost every stat you can get. He is second in KDA, Kill Participation, Gold difference at 10 minutes and Damage per Minute.
Jakub “Cinkrof” Rokicki and Lucjan “Shlatan” Ahmad both have very impressive early game numbers. Cinkrof’s Gold difference at 10 minutes averages plus-401. He also scores second in Creep Score per Minute with 6.3. Shlatan is at the top of several numbers too but he notably averages the best creep score difference at 10 minutes with plus-10.0. This differential is a score where Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong is last with minus-12.9, and might explain why he barely makes it into this top three, despite being first in KDA and vision score.
Mid lane

Emil “Larssen” Larsson and Marek “Humanoid” Brázda have an extremely close rating. Humanoid is dominating all the laning numbers above anyone else. One example of that would be his average creep score difference of plus-11.7 at 10 minutes. On his side, Larssen is still first in KDA (9.0) and Damage per Minute (588).
Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié has a lot of average numbers. However, he averages a Kill Participation of 73.4%, which is more than any other mid laner in the league. This might mean that Misfits Gaming rely a lot on him in order to get wins.
Bot lane

This is another close ranking between all three of those players. Similarly to the changes this week for top lane, the matchup between Rogue and Fnatic may have had enough impact to put Markos “Comp” Stamkopoulos behind Elias “Upset” Lipp. In that game Upset did get a lead over the Greek bot laner. However this could partly be because Upset picked Lucian into Comp’s jhin. However, both players have a similar Counter-pick rate so this should be averaged out on all of their games.
Somehow, William “UNF0RGIVEN” Nieminen barely manages to sneak in first in this ranking despite MAD Lions’ record of 4-3. But the rookie bot laner does manage to deal the most Damage per Minute out of any bot laner (629). He also scores decently in all other areas.
Support

3. Trymbi (New)
Not many changes in the support position. Despite a 0-2 weekend, Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov comfortably remains at the first position partly due to his insane 81.4% Kill Participation rate. However, Hylissang isn’t first in the KDA department anymore, as both Raphaël “Targamas” Crabbé and Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus (first, with 7.3) surpassed him there. Targamas also has impressive vision numbers.
On Saturday, Targamas and Trymbi will face each other in the LEC, it will be interesting to see how this affects rankings for next week. Both G2 Esports and Fnatic are among the top three teams in the league right now.
