Earlier today, the new support player for the Hanwha Life Esports roster in League of Legends was announced. The spot will be filled by former team Griffin support, Son “Lehends” Si-woo. After Lehends’ contract ended with team Griffin back in December, many teams tried to sign him.
A bidding war for leadership
Rumors are that Lehends was in talks with various Korean and Chinese teams, but that Hanwha Life Esports brought the largest Korean offer. It is important to note that some of the Chinese organizations have allegedly offered higher wages, however, Lehends has decided to remain in his home country at this time. The rumors are based on a tweet by FionnOnFire. Supposedly, Lehends will be receiving $700K USD per year, though the exact terms and length of the contract have not yet been released publicly.
The new Hanwha Life Esports roster for the 2020 season.
In addition to signing Lehends, Hanwha Life Esports has been making other moves to fill out their lineup. One key addition is Kang “Haru” Min-seung, the substitute jungle player of team SK Telecom T1. While Haru did not get much time on the stage with SKT throughout 2019, he will now receive another chance to prove himself.
With these latest signings, the new Hanwha Life Esports roster is close to being finalized. Lehends will be leading the new roster throughout the 2020 LCK split, aiming to improve on their past seasons where they barely avoided relegations. As of now, the current roster is expected to look like this:
Top: Lee “CuVee” Seong-jin (ex-Gen.G)
Jungle: Kang “Haru” Min-seung (ex-SKT)
Mid: Kang “Tempt” Myung-gu // Kim “Lava” Tae-hoon
AD: Jeon “Zenit” Tae-gwon (ex-KT)
Support: Son “Lehends” Si-woo (Ex-Griffin)
Head coach: Jeong “NoFe” No-chul
