The Los Angeles Thieves disappoint in their match against the London Royal Ravens.
100 Thieves’ Call of Duty squad lost 3-1 to the London Royal Ravens after replacing Donovan “Temp” Laroda with WestR player Carlos “Venom” Hernadez. The LA Thieves have been on a downward trend after placing 6th at the Stage 1 Major and are currently 1-2 overall in pool play.
Venom was brought onto the team as a young and talented superstar. At only nineteen, he was going to be the missing piece to the Thieves’ puzzle, but he did not have the explosive permanence that some were hoping for during his first pro showcase. Other rookies, like Minnesota Rokkr’s Eli “Standy” Bentz and London’s Paul “PaulEhx” Avila” had better debuts. PaulEhx and Venom were teammates while on the WestR roster. The duo had been dominating Challengers, leading to both amateurs getting their own spot on CDL teams.
Los Angeles Thieves fall from greatness at the hands of London Royal Ravens
In Pool A during Stage 1, LA Thieves went 4-1 after losing one match to the 2020 CDL championship winning Dallas Empire squad. They were knocked out of the upper bracket early by the Los Angeles Guerrillas and then eventually eliminated from the tournament by the New York Subliners.
After substituting in a rookie, the LA Thieves look no better than they did with Temp. It is still early in the season and Venom could easily make a recovery soon, but he wasn’t able to prove his worth during the match today. The LA Thieves face off against Atlanta FaZe and LA Guerrillas before the Stage 2 Major. We’ll see how the newest thief does in his next big league match.
