Luminosity Gaming signs new Apex Legends roster

Canadian esports organization Luminosity Gaming announced it has signed a new Apex Legends roster, consisting of Maxim “Exens” Dmitruk, Elvira “Esdesu” Temirova, and Anton “xaniyaa” Shkuratov. These three Russian players replace Luminosity’s previous roster of Ryan “Crank” Grandy, Hogne “chipzy” Krogsæther, and Justin “JP2” Pate.

Compared to the results of the former Luminosity Gaming Apex Legends roster, these three players have a much better history. Without an organization to sponsor them in the past, the Russian squad has recently competed under the org-less banner known as 789. Exens also has a history playing for CIS region organization ROFLANQ, before joining up with Esdesu and xaniyaa on the roster. Coach Xeonzp joins the three on Luminosity Gaming.

While at the Apex Legends Preseason Invitational, the three players finished in 5th place and took home $39,000 in prize pool earnings. The team performed better than organizations like G2 Esports, Sentinels, Rogue, NRG Esports, and Counter Logic Gaming.

Former Apex Legends roster

Luminosity Gaming entered Apex Legends in May of 2019, with a roster that consisted of Justin “Yogi” Desse, Hogne “chipzy” Krogsæther, and Derek “Sloth” Diaz. These three players had previous experience competing in the H1Z1 Pro League. However, Yogi and Sloth ended up leaving the roster. This led to Crank and former 100 Thieves player JP2 taking their place in September.

However, these players did not perform as expected, with bottom half bracket placements and zero prize pool earnings. The former LG roster placed 14th at the X Games Minneapolis EXP Invitational, which was four placements below any winnings. That trio also finished in 40th at the Apex Legends Preseason Invitational in Kraków, Poland, where the prize pool cutoff was at 20th place.

This new roster certainly has the skills to help Luminosity Gaming dominate the Apex Legends scene. With the resources, environment, and training that Luminosity can provide, the trio aims to become a new contender alongside other Apex Legends powerhouses. This includes teams like Team SoloMid and Natus Vincere, NRG Esports, and Sentinels.

Disclosure: Luminosity Gaming is a subsidiary of Enthusiast Gaming, which owns and operates Daily Esports.
