Machi Esports signs former G-Rex League of Legends roster
After the unexpected disbanding of the League of Legends team G-Rex by Emperor Esports, the team was left without a sponsor for the upcoming Pacific Championship Series (PCS) season. A few days after this announcement, the PCS team revealed that Machi Esports is replacing G-Rex in the PCS for the upcoming season. However, the Machi Esports roster is looking awfully familiar.
Machi Esports signs the majority of G-Rex players
Today, the Global Contract Database of League of Legends was updated. The update reveals that Machi Esports has signed the majority of the former G-Rex player roster. Included in the new roster are the following players:
- Top lane: Hsieh “PK” Yu-Ting
- Jungle: Huang “Gemini” Chu-Xuan
- Mid lane: Chen “M1ssion” Hsiao-Hsien
- Bot lane: Chiu “Bruce” Chih-Chun
- Support: Lin “Koala” Chih-Chiang.
Besides this, the former MachiX support player Tseng “Dreamer” Chien-Hung is joining the roster as the head coach.
Alpha Esports picks up trainee Atlen in the bot lane
Not all of the former G-Rex roster signed with the new Machi Esports team. G-Rex’s former trainee bot lane player Sung “Atlen” Ya-Lun joined Alpha Esports instead. At this time it is unclear whether Atlen was given the opportunity to compete alongside Machi Esports for the upcoming season.
Other substitute players such as Wong “Kartis” Ka Lok, G-Rex’s former top lane trainee, and So “KL” Ka Lung, the substitute jungle player, have not been added to the contract database at this time. It is unclear whether Kartis and KL remain with the team for the 2020 season. This is particularly tough for KL, who only just last month signed with the G-Rex organization, leaving his former team F-Soul Esports for this new opportunity.
No news surrounding the coaching staff
At this time, there is no news yet about what will happen with the G-Rex coaching staff. However, some Weibo users have rumored the return of former Head Coach Xue “Mountain” Zhao-Hong to China. However, for the Assistant Coaches Shu “Leo” Kuan-Chih, Chang “SoCool” Bo Hsin, and Liu “Wulala” Sheng-Wei, it will be a tough time ahead.
The assistant coaches don’t have much of a history with the game yet. Because of the lack of experience, they haven’t had the opportunity to prove themselves. Now that most of the PCS rosters have finalized, it will be tough for them to be given another chance this split.
