Magic: The Gathering fans have been waiting for the details on Magic World Championship XXVI, and now they’re here. The tournament will take place Feb. 14 – 16 in Honolulu, Hawaii. All games will be broadcast starting at 11 a.m. PST through Magic‘s Twitch. There will also be an in-game event going on for all players in MTG Arena where players will have access to the finalists’ decks during the time of the tournament.

Worlds XXVI showcase event and #FindYourChampion

To celebrate the Magic World Championship XXVI, MTG Arena will be hosting a Worlds XXVI showcase Feb. 14 – 16. During the experience, all competitors’ decks will be available for players at no cost. Mastery XP will be rewarded for a player’s first two wins using the decks. Additionally, those who win three times will be granted a Magic World Championship-themed sleeve. There are no limits to how many times a deck can be used, so players will be able to battle like the pros to their heart’s content.

#FindYourChampion will be another way for players to earn some sick rewards. Players are able to pick a competitor to support during the tournaments. Then they are rewarded based on how far the competitor goes during the competition. The following rewards will be available:

  • Winner: Worlds XXVI sleeve, 6 rare cards, and a trophy pet
  • 2nd Place: Worlds XXVI sleeve and 4 rare cards
  • 3rd – 8th Place: Worlds XXVI sleeve and 2 rare cards
  • 9th – 16th Place: Worlds XXVI sleeve and 1 rare card

The competitors

This year there are 16 finalists competing in the Magic World Championship XXVI. All have their share of accomplishments and are renowned as the best Magic: The Gathering players in the world. They are competing for $1,000,000 in prizes and the top spot for greatest player in the world.

Javier “Thalai” Dominguez, 2018 Magic World Champion, is among the competitors participating this year, along with Pablo “PVDDR” Vitor Damo Da Rosa, Seth “egdirb” Manfield, and Thoralf “Toffel” Severin, and more. Biographies are available on Magic‘s website for players to get to know the finalists. Moreover, Magic World Championship XXVI merchandise is also available for preorder to support the finalists during the event.

Secret Lair

Magic: The Gathering‘s Secret Lair decks have been highly anticipated since their release in 2019. Typically, the decks are only on sale for 24 hours and are incredibly rare. Each deck features a different theme inspired by events and seasons. Plus, each deck illustrates never-before-seen stunning designs. Players who decide to order the decks during the drops are limited to 10 orders per drop. During day one of the Magic World Championship XXVI, five brand new drops will be revealed. However, they will only be available until Feb. 16, the last day of the tournament.
