Tyler “Marss” Martins won Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Singles at DreamHack Atlanta 2019 on Nov. 17. Marss also won DreamHack Montreal back in September. As a PGRU A-tier event, this marked Marss’ most significant tournament victory since Smash Factor 8 in July.
Marss advanced into top 24 seamlessly, beating Vincent “Vinny G” Ghiroli 2-0 and Antony “MuteAce” Hoo 3-0. Then in Winners Quarters, he had another fairly commanding performance, beating Paris “Light” Ramirez 3-1.
The hot streak continued for Marss in DreamHack Atlanta 2019 Ultimate top 8. In Winners Semis, he scored a 3-1 victory over Rasheen “Dark Wizzy” Rose. Afterwards, Marss faced his greatest challenge from Ezra “Samsora” Morris. These two played in both Winners and Grand Finals, and both sets went to game five. Nevertheless, Marss came out on top both times.

Dark Wizzy had a notable run to 4th in DreamHack Atlanta 2019 Ultimate Singles. This was his best placing to date at a tournament of this caliber. Along the way, he defeated PGR players like Jon Suarez, David “LeoN” Leon, Alexis “Goblin” Stennett, and Brian “Cosmos” Kalu. This contrasts with Dark Wizzy’s performance at Shine 2019, where he placed 5th with no PGR wins.
Goblin had a strong run to 7th place at this event. He advanced into top 32 by defeating Jestise “MVD” Negron. Then Goblin scored his second win of the season over Gavin “Tweek” Dempsey (first defeating him at Shine). Goblin rounded out his performance with a victory over Leon “Sonido” Green.
Georgia local Carrington “Wrath” Osborne similarly had a great run to 7th in DreamHack Atlanta 2019 Ultimate Singles. In the process, he beat Randy “RFang” Fang, Gabriel “Epic_Gabriel” Romero, Tweek, and Nicholas “Ned” Dovel. Despite his strong performances throughout Smash 4, this was Wrath’s first top 8 finish at a Smash Ultimate major.
