Keeping in line with the recent character announcements for Soul Calibur 6, more of the original cast continues to be added to the new game. This time series veteran Maxi is the next one to enter the stage of history. Check out his trailer below, as well as some screenshots, and what Bandai Namco had to say about the returning nunchaku master:

“Fans of lighting fast nunchaku action will surely be excited to learn that Maxi will be joining the fray in SOULCALIBUR VI. As a franchise regular, Maxi has been featured in virtually every chapter of the SOULCALIBUR saga, leaving countless defeated foes in his wake. With Maxi’s fluid, powerful, and deadly fighting style, players have another weapon to wield as they return to the stage of history in SOULCALIBUR VI.

SOULCALIBUR VI is slated for release in the Americas for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PCs via STEAM® in 2018.

Stay tuned as we’ll have more SOULCALIBUR VI news to share at E3 2018.”

Fan reaction seems to be very positive. Check out this reaction video from FGC veteran Floe, as he also breaks down the trailer to analyze Maxi’s moveset:

For more reaction and analysis check out Maximilian Dood’s video on the subject:

A demo build was playable last weekend at Combo Breaker in Chicago, but this was the demo build that has been floating around for awhile. I expect to see a new build at E3, possibly with a playable Geralt, as well as more character announcements, ideally some new characters, or at the very least less recognizable returning cast members. I suspect Bandai Namco is getting the “No Duh” additions out of the way to make whatever announcement they make at E3 carry more weight. Bandai Namco has also been very quiet on the subject of a release date, stating only that the game will release in “2018”. I fully expect a concrete release date to drop at E3 as well.
