Leonardo “MkLeo” Lopez Perez won Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Singles at Ultimate 32 on November 15. It was his biggest online tournament win since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
MkLeo was one of 16 invitees to receive an automatic bye into the top 32 at this event. As a result, he did not have to play any pools matches. MkLeo advanced into winners top 8 by defeating Brett “8BitMan” Esposito 3-0, Aaron Wilhite 3-1, and Spencer “BestNess” Garner 3-0.
In Winners Semis, MkLeo lost a five-game set to Enrique “Maister” Hernández Solís. However, his losers run saw him eliminate Noah “Sharp” McCulley 3-2, Edgar “Sparg0” Valdez 3-1, and Luis “Lui$” Oceguera 3-0. Finally, MkLeo rematched Maister in the Grand Finals of Ultimate 32. After dropping the first two games of the set, he beat Maister 3-2 in set one. Then, MkLeo won set two 3-0, effectively pulling off a reverse 6-0. MkLeo even used his rarely-seen Ike to secure the victory.

Other results from Ultimate 32
Lui$ was the highest-placing player at Ultimate 32 who did not receive a bye into the top 32. His run began in pools with wins over the likes of Javi “JAVI ON EARTH” F. and Joseph “YoseFu” Helmert. In the top 32, Lui$ won sets against Luke “KirbyKid” Richmond, Sparg0, and Saleem “Salem” Young. He also defeated Kolawole “Kola” Aideyan before falling to Maister and MkLeo for a 3rd place finish.
Eric “Mr. E” Weber was the only non-invited player besides Lui$ to reach the top 8 at this event, placing 7th. Mr. E lost to Corey “Kain” Gibson early on in pools, forcing him to make a deep losers run. He still managed to advance into the top 32, earning wins over players like Ryan “Ravenking” McDonough in the process. Mr. E also beat Grayson Ramos, Santiago “Chag” Perez, Aaron, and Salem, while losing to David “LeoN” Leon and Sharp.
Carlos “Sonix” Pérez was the No. 1 seed out of all the uninvited players at Ultimate 32. However, he underperformed at this event, finishing in 65th place. Sonix suffered upset losses at the hands of Charles “SlushieV1” J. and JAVI ON EARTH.
