One of the hotter topics in the Call of Duty community over the past year has been Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. For the most part, the rumored title has been an enigma, with no one truly knowing if it even exists or not. While there was a rumor flying around last year about the game being campaign only, that’s false according to multiple sources. However, now it seems that a reliable inside source is claiming that the game will release at some point in the future. Not only that, but the game will also include the classic Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer.

TheGamingRevolution confirms Modern Warfare 2 Remastered

Earlier in the week, we reported on TheGamingRevolutions’s Twitter Q&A session. He had his inside source answer community questions about Modern Warfare and revealed quite a bit of information. However, not all of the questions pertained to the upcoming Modern Warfare.

Amid the onslaught of questions about Modern Warfare maps, killstreaks, weapons, etc., there was an outlier. One Twitter user asked about Modern Warfare 2 Remastered and whether or not we will be seeing it. TGR’s source responded in kind.

While we have known that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered exists, there were reports we wouldn’t ever see it. Supposedly, Activision doesn’t see a fiscal reason to release it. Of course, MW2 Remastered would be a big hit, but it would also take away players and revenue from any current COD.

However, according to TGR’s inside source, things have apparently changed on this front. Maybe the recent PlayStation exclusivity controversy caused Activision to rethink its 2020 projections. Perhaps the fiscal success of COD Mobile allows for some more leeway with the Call of Duty franchise.

COD Mobile has generated nearly $3 million in revenue since its worldwide release on Sept 30

Whatever the reason, it looks like Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will see the light of day after all. Keep in mind, though, these are just leaks. Yes, TheGamingRevolution’s source has an insanely accurate track record, but things can still change. This remastered release wouldn’t be until mid-2020 most likely, which is plenty of time for other variables to come into play.
