Modern Warfare’s biggest issues after the 1.08 update

After the 1.08 update yesterday, most fans were pleased with the state of Modern Warfare. The patch resolved some of the more pressing issues the game had, including the footstep audio. However, as with all multiplayer titles, there are lingering problems. Some are minor issues but others are fairly major and fans would like to see a swift resolution. Infinity Ward has shown they’re willing to update the game quickly, but will they fix what’s necessary fast enough? Here are three issues in Modern Warfare that persist after the 1.08 update.

Dead Silence should be a perk

Perhaps the biggest gripe of many fans, Dead Silence should be included as a perk. While it does serve a purpose as a field upgrade, it doesn’t provide enough in the way of usefulness. That you only get it for 15 seconds every minute and a half isn’t enough with the way Modern Warfare plays.

If the game played out similar to other boots on the ground titles, Dead Silence could stay a field upgrade. However, with so many campers and tight-knit rooms, it’s not enough.

Modern Warfare dead silence

Casual and professional players alike have been asking for this since the game released. It wouldn’t be a game-altering change on the development side of things for Infinity Ward. Dead Silence could slide into any of the three perk categories with relative ease. The Perk 2 category seems like the most logical option. This way, players have to pick between Ghost, Dead Silence, and all of the killstreak perks. Without as many players running Ghost, the game will play much faster.

Spawns still need work across all game modes

Another giant problem with Modern Warfare is the spawn logic, present in every game mode. The 1.08 update alleviated some of the problems, but Hardpoint and Domination spawns are nowhere near up to par.

Every day on Twitter, a new clip is released from a professional player detailing how bad the spawns are. Players are spawning in the enemy’s base and around the enemy flags on a regular basis. This takes any competitiveness out of the game and replaces it with simple luck of the draw.

Infinity Ward should have enough data to reconstruct their spawn logic. However, we don’t know when they will release another update for this.

Tanks in Ground War require a nerf

If you’ve played any Ground War in Modern Warfare, you’ve been killed by a tank. They are uber-powerful and can go pretty much anywhere on the map. Their flexibility makes some players not even fire their weapons but instead sit in a tank for the duration of the match.

Infinity Ward needs to make it so tanks cannot venture anywhere but the middle lane of the map. Also, they should institute a longer cooldown for the cannons on the tanks. Hopefully, something will be done about these killing machines with the next update.
