A new Overwatch experimental patch is live, and this one includes some major changes to Moira, along with minor nerfs to Genji. Keep in mind, however, that these are experimental changes and won’t necessarily be permanent. Let’s take a look at what’s happening to Moira.
Moira Overwatch changes
Moira is getting some pretty massive changes to her Fade and her Biotic Orb. Here’s what’s changing.
Biotic Orb
Damage Orb
- Damage radius reduced from 4 meters to 3 meters
- Projectile slow amount after a target is found increased from -72.5% to -80%
- Damage-per-second now scales based on how close the target(s) are to the Biotic Orb
- Between 0 – 1 meter: It will deal 150 damage per second
- Between 1 meter – 3 meters: Scales linearly down from 150 to 25 damage per second
- The total potential damage the Biotic Orb can deal is unchanged: 200 damage total
Fade
- Now phases out all allies within 6 meters (and self) for 1 second after exiting Fade
Her alternate fire is also going to be more difficult to attach. According to Blizzard, “the main goal of these changes is to give Moira players a chance to make bigger plays and flex their player skill.” Moira’s alternate fire and her Biotic Orb will be more difficult to hit, but the orb will do damage quicker to those it hits. Her Fade will offer her an opportunity to protect allies when timed properly.
Genji nerfs
Genji has been tearing up the OWL over the last month since his buffs, so he’s getting some slight nerfs here. Each individual shuriken will now deal 28 instead of 30 damage, and it will take him 0.1 seconds longer to recover from using his alternate fire. This should help bring him back in line with other damage Heroes.
These changes, especially Moira’s, seem pretty dramatic. It will be interesting to see if they actually stick, and if so, which ones make it through. Hopefully, Moira doesn’t end up breaking the game with her new Fade mechanic. Check back with Daily Esports to see what makes the cut.
