Since the information was leaked yesterday, more details have surfaced regarding the Modern Warfare Gunfight beta. According to insider sources, this beta will be announced at Gamescom’s opening night on Monday, Aug 19. Supposedly, it will only be open for PlayStation 4 users but won’t require any payment or pre-order.
Though many thought a Battle Royale would be the special announcement at Gamescom, it sounds more and more like it will be a Gunfight beta instead. Multiple sources have corroborated this, and even Infinity Ward has dropped hints. So, what do we know so far about the Modern Warfare Gunfight beta?
Infinity Ward sends clues about the Gunfight beta
While a Redditer leaked this yesterday, it’s hard to trust any unvalidated source on the Internet. However, one source that is trustworthy is the development studio itself. Infinity Ward seems to be all but confirming the reality of this beta.
Throughout the day, different influencers took videos of a special Modern Warfare card sent by Infinity Ward. These cards were originally promotion for the reveal event but are now being used further. By using a Snapchat filter, the card turns into a hologram and reveals different images. As you can see, there are all new Gunfight maps being showcased in the video. While this could just be extra intel, it almost definitely points to a Gunfight beta. The two new maps shown are Docks and Speedball. The three original maps are Pine, Stack, and King. We can expect at least 3 to be in the Gunfight beta.
TheGamingRevolution chimes in about the beta
Established leaker TheGamingRevolution confirmed the existence of a Gunfight beta. After the Reddit post surfaced, he made a YouTube video claiming one of his sources said the beta is most likely happening. However, after that, he 100% confirmed it.

TGR says in the tweet above that the beta will be PS4 only, as part of the exclusivity deal between Sony and Activision. While he knows most of the content, he doesn’t have an exact date for the beta. In the leaked Reddit post yesterday, the leaked dates were Aug 22-26.
