It has only been a month since we got our first look at Mortal Kombat 11, the next installment in the legendary series, and during that trailer we were told that there would be a big community reveal event on Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. PT. Now we have a few hints at what we might be seeing at the event.
The official Mortal Kombat Twitter account responded to a fan’s question saying that we will see some gameplay, a little bit of story, and some character reveals at the event.
Let's say next week on January 17th at 11am?
We'll show you some gameplay, a little story, and maybe give you some character reveals. How does that sound?

Time travel is going to be a big part of the story this time around. Hopefully, we can see how that comes into play and how older versions of characters become involved, as we saw in the trailer with original Mortal Kombat Scorpion taking out Raiden. What other older versions of characters will we see? Who is this new mysterious Elder God with power over time?
It will also be interesting to see what elements of gameplay will carry over from Mortal Kombat X and what will be incorporated from Injustice 2. Multiple character variants, as previously seen in MKX, are a given, but I have a strong feeling that the popular gear system from Injustice 2 will make an appearance in some form as well.
As far as the character reveals go, we might get some more information on whether the leak list from last month is accurate as well, as it claimed characters like Johnny Cage and most of the parent characters would be absent this go around. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw some brand new characters as well, or even some returning newcomers from MKX. I think it is far too early to hope for any guest character announcements or teases; I would expect anything on that front much closer to launch or shortly after (and it better be Spawn!).
Make sure to tune into the event live on Jan. 17 to find out for yourself, and you can expect our take on whatever is announced shortly after.
