Edgard “n0ne” Sheleby won Super Smash Bros. Melee Singles at Rona Rumble: East Coast VI on June 6. The event marked his fourth consecutive victory at an online Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament.
During his first two matches, n0ne made use of secondary characters like Ganondorf and Mario, in addition to Captain Falcon. In the process, he beat Patrick “Pich” Pichette 2-0 and Max “Younger” Rais 2-1. After a 3-0 win over Angel “FLiiNcHy” Cruz, n0ne found himself in top 8 on winners side.
In Winners Semis, n0ne lost to “bobby big ballz” in a tight, five-game set. However, n0ne beat the rest of his opponents throughout Rona Rumble without going to game five again. He defeated Austin “Reeve” Reed 3-1, Zain Naghmi’s Roy (otherwise known as “DontTestMe”) 3-0, and bobby big ballz 3-1. Finally, n0ne beat Toussaint “2saint” Turnier 3-1 in both sets of Grand Finals to win Rona Rumble: East Coast VI.
Rona Rumble results outside of East Coast VI
The Rona Rumble series made its debut for both Australia and Mexico on June 4. Joshua “Sora” Lyras won Rona Rumble: Australia, defeating Joshua “Quetz” Madden, Marcus “MC” Cheong, and Jacob “Sock” Waddell. Meanwhile, Jonathan “Bimbo” Rocha won Rona Rumble: Mexico, defeating Sebastián Herrán and Humberto “.jpg” Durón.
Cody “iBDW” Schwab won Rona Rumble: West Coast XII on June 5. In the process, he beat Weston “Westballz” Dennis, Jeffrey “Axe” Williamson, and Zaid “Spark” Ali. Then, on the same day as Rona Rumble: East Coast VI, Ben “SFOP” Duren won Rona Rumble: Mid-South III. He defeated Kyle Krudo, Jeffery “billybopeep” Palmer, and Theodore “squible” Landegger. This was the first iteration of the Mid-South tournament that billybopeep did not win.
After losing his first set of Rona Rumble: Mid-South III to Thomas “Pappi” Perez, squible made an incredible losers run. Notably, he won his runback against Pappi in order to reach top 8. From there, squible eliminated Jon “Jonjon” A., Steven “Blues Clues” Joseph, Krudo, and billybopeep. In addition, he took a set off of SFOP in Grand Finals.
Drew “Drephen” Scoles won Rona Rumble: Midwest III on June 7. He won sets over Daniel “DannyPhantom” Durant Schultz, bobby big ballz, and Reeve. That same day, Michelangelo “Blea Gelo” Greco won Rona Rumble: Southeast III. He defeated Joseph “Savestate” El-Khouri, Colin “Colbol” Green, Harrison “HTwa” Turner, and Forrest Griffin.
