Nadeshot reveals 100 Thieves’ plan to reenter CSGO

After recently announcing an exit from the upcoming franchised 2020 Call of Duty League, North American esports organization 100 Thieves plans to enter another major esports league. Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag announced that 100 Thieves will return to the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene soon. This comes after a previous entry into CSGO in late 2017.

100 Thieves return to CSGO

“I am so damn excited to enter CS:GO and assemble a Championship caliber roster,” said Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag while discussing 100 Thieves’ future plans. “We are flying to Berlin next week for the conclusion of the Major with a goal of signing players that are hungry to build a winning legacy here with 100 Thieves. Let’s get to work!”

Nadeshot had previously mentioned the organization returning to CSGO in a video about the esports organization’s Series B funding round. In that video, he shows a scene of him in a meeting with management. And while there, he directly states their plans to enter the scene.

100 Thieves previously entered the CSGO scene in late 2017 and early 2018, but they released the roster before played a single match. The organization signed a Brazilian team featuring most of the ex-Immortals lineup, which had most recently played at 2017’s PGL Krakow Major. This included Henrique “HEN1” Teles, Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles, Lincoln “fnx” Lau, Bruno “bit” Lima, and Vito “kNgV-” Giuseppe. Rodolfo “bLecker” Blecker served as the coach.

However, the team missed an ELEAGUE Major due to “visa issues”. Then, Vito “kNgV” Giuseppe was released from the roster after a Twitter feud involving “homophobic slurs” with Duncan “Thorin” Shields. The rest of the 100 Thieves roster was also released shortly after. The players, later on, left to organizations like Virtue Gaming and Não Tem Como.

The fact that 100 Thieves would not enter the future Call of Duty League was most likely agreed upon a few months prior. Nadeshot cited high franchise entrance cost, loss of branding through the requirement to establish a city-based name, and the lack of resources compared to many other of the franchise slot owners to join such a league. These served as the primary reasons for 100 Thieves not entering the CDL.
